Position
Summary:
As
the IT Technician for the school, you will play a crucial role in maintaining
and supporting the technology infrastructure necessary for the smooth operation
of the educational institution. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide
range of tasks, from providing technical assistance to staff and students to
managing the school's network and hardware. This role requires a combination of
technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication
to ensure the efficient functioning of technology within the school
environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
- Provide
frontline technical support to school staff and students, both in person
and remotely, for all technology-related issues, including hardware,
software, and network problems.
- Troubleshoot
and resolve technical problems promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal
disruption to teaching and learning activities.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of computers, tablets, printers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and other IT equipment
Network Management:
- Maintain
and manage the school's local area network (LAN) and wireless network
(WLAN) to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
- Monitor
network performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement
solutions to optimize network efficiency.
- Configure and manage network switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure data integrity and protect against security threats
System Administration:
- Administer
and maintain the school's servers and other IT infrastructure, including
file servers, email servers, and domain controllers.
- Implement
and oversee data backup and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard
critical school information.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights to various systems and resources
Software Management:
- Install,
update, and configure software applications used throughout the school,
including educational software, productivity tools, and administrative
systems.
- Ensure
software licenses are up to date and compliant with legal requirements.
IT Equipment Inventory and Procurement:
- Maintain an
inventory of all IT equipment, including computers, peripherals, and
software licenses.
- Recommend and assist in the procurement of new IT equipment and services, considering the school's budget and technology requirements
Technology Training:
- Liaise with the school ICT teachers to organize training sessions for school staff where needed in order to enhance their
technology proficiency and use of educational technology tools
effectively.
Security and Data Privacy:
- Implement
and enforce security measures to protect the school's data and network
infrastructure against cyber threats.
- Ensure
compliance with data privacy regulations and safeguard sensitive
information.
Technology
Trends:
- Keep
abreast of the latest developments in educational technology and IT
industry best practices, suggesting innovative solutions to improve the
school's technology infrastructure.
Qualifications
and Skills:
- A Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is
preferred.
- Proven
experience in providing technical support and managing IT infrastructure,
preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong
knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and
software applications commonly used in schools.
- Familiarity
with educational technology tools, learning management systems, and
classroom technologies.
- Excellent
problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose
technical issues efficiently.
- Strong
communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff,
students, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to
work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented
and well-organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
