Job description
- Providing technical support to end users by assisting in troubleshooting issues experienced with a software application, answering questions, and providing guidance on how to use the application.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues by identifying causes of issues and developing a plan to fix them, working with developers to identify and fix bugs, or configuring the application in a different way to improve its performance.
- Setting up and configuring software applications and maintaining them over time to ensure they continue to function properly.
- Working with developers to improve the performance of software applications: The application support engineer may collaborate with developers to identify and fix bugs and make improvements to the application.
- Monitoring the performance of a software application, looking for signs of problems or potential issues that may need to be addressed.
- Creating and maintaining documentation for software applications, including user guides and technical reference materials.
- Training end users on how to use a software application, including providing one-on-one instruction or creating training materials.
- Acting as the first point of contact for users who need help with a software application, and will need to respond to their inquiries and requests for assistance in a timely and professional manner.
- Escalating issues to higher-level support staff or developers for further assistance.
- Keeping up to date with developments in software application technologies: The application support engineer will need to stay up to date with developments in the field of software application technologies in order to provide the best possible support to users
- Perform analyses on software application functionality and suggest improvements.
